Today, 7th graders learned about Martin Luther King Jr. and did a research project about other leaders of the Civil Rights Movement.
In 8th grade they listened to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I have a Dream” speech, and analyzed the message he was trying to spread.

Literacy Week - Day 5:
Talk it out! Oral language is essential to your child's reading success. This year we have focused on oral language in grades K-3 to ensure students are hearing the manipulation of sounds in a word to understand how to read and write better. Check out this resource for more tools: https://ufli.education.ufl.edu/resources/parent/primary/

Literacy Week Day 4: AR Goals!
At CCS, we love to celebrate our readers. Has your child made a new AR goal for the New Year? Ask them about their brag tags! Share a picture below of your child's brag tag.

Literacy Goals - Day 2:
📖 New books for the New Year? Did you know at both campuses for grade PreK-7/8 MS ELA teachers were given $100 to spend expanding their classroom library? We know the importance of supplying rich texts at the hands of your students.
Did your student receive a new book at home for Christmas or to ring in the New Year?
📸Post a picture below!

A Week of Literacy Goals: Day 1
⁉️ Did you know reading aloud with your child is actually recommended by your pediatrician? That is how much it impacts your child's future success. Reading aloud for just 15 minutes a day can increase your child's vocabulary and understanding of written language! Set a goal to read for 15 minutes together at home. 📸 Take a picture and post below of your student reading with a family member.

Wishing you JOY and PEACE -- today and always!

Just as the Wise Men did those many years ago, let’s continue to seek Him…in everything we do!

Starting tomorrow, CCS Athletics has opportunities to work a souvenir shop during IU basketball games. Can you help?
